Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist as well as a businessperson. She is co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist as well as a TV host and owner of the liberally independent online newspaper The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at sixteen years of age. In Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. In her 21st year, she was the president of the famous debating club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. When she graduated, she made her name as an editor for a conservative newspaper and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched an online voice portal which offered critical observations on the political scenario. Her site was able to bring in several notable contributors to post their opinions on culture and politics. Arianna was famous in 2003, when she ran independently in a recall campaign in California to replace the then-Governor Davis. Apart from this she also was the leader of a Detroit project that promoted vehicles that are fuel efficient. Her rank was 12th on Forbes' list of the most influential women in the media. That same year, Guardian listed her among the top 100 figures in media. The year 2011 saw AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her the head of that media division, which contained many then-existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant and journalist. Although she was close with her father, it was her bond with her mother that formed her future. She was a leader even in her early years. When she moved to England, she was sixteen to further her studies as well as enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She joined the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college and was the third and first female to serve as president. In 1972, she graduated with a Master's Degree in Economics. After graduating, she worked as a columnist and critic and hosting a show on TV. She also appeared in the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books after receiving editorial advice from the latter.
