Emily Bett Rickards is a Canadian born actress. She was best known in the US for her role as Felicity Smoak in The CW series Arrow. Rickards was raised and born within British Columbia. When she was a child, she began to explore her passion for acting by engaging in dance and musical theatre. She finished high school sooner than she anticipated and enrolled at Vancouver Film School where she received her Acting Essentials Certificate. After finishing the program she auditioned for an open audition which led her to an agent for booking. Alida Vocal Studio, Vancouver is where she studied. Initially signed as a single-episode guest on the show, her relationship with show's co-star Stephen Amell coupled with positive reactions from fans as well as her funny quips earned her first signing as a recurring co-star in the remainder of the initial season.
